Description

Aotearoa New Zealand native Flax/Harakeke (Phormium tenax).

The taller, more upright of our two native flaxes – leaves generally olive-bronze in colour.

Fast growing and capable of handling extreme conditions, wet or dry. Excellent for restoration planting, especially near coastal or swampy sites.

Makes a nice wind break or informal hedge and thrives in coastal conditions – can grow up to 2-3m tall.

Summer flowers on long stalks are a favourite of Tuī.

Current height approx 0.3m above PB3/4 planter bag.

These plants are grown locally in Ngāmotu New Plymouth and have been donated to Heritage Taranaki to help support our mission of conserving our region’s unique heritage.
