Pūriri (Vitex lucens)

Year-round food for native birds – pink flowers for Tui, followed by red berries loved by Kereru

Excellent as specimen trees, street trees, for restoration projects, or replanting on farmland etc.

Mature height is around 20m, although trees can grow taller given the right conditions.

A long-lived tree, a number of trees between 1500-2000 years old survive in some parts of NZ (i.e. Brooklands Park in central Ngāmotu New Plymouth).

Moderately frost tender when young.

Current height approx 1.2m above PB8 planter bag.

These plants are grown locally in Ngāmotu New Plymouth and have been donated to Heritage Taranaki to help support our mission of conserving our region’s unique heritage.
